Bowl with Walnut Insets

A chunk of wood is placed on the lathe and trimmed down to the desirable shape.

Insets are placed around the bowl that will hold the walnuts.

Walnuts are glued into the insets so that they will be secured in the bowl for the turning process.

The bowl is placed back on the lathe and turned again to remove excess and smooth walnuts into the walls of the bowl.

The root is trimmed down to desired size and shape on the lathe.

The root is trimmed down to desired size and shape on the lathe.

The tree root is coated with finish several times and allowed to dry.
